TINY STUDIO SERIES WITH ANTHONY ROMANO

In the Anthony Romano’s 'Tiny Studio Series,' he transformed his small home studio into a Renaissance-inspired setting using our Chiffon Elegance Dark Charcoal backdrop while adopting new lighting techniques. Usually Anthony Romano shoots along the length of his garage. This time he switched things up and captured images from his living room into the garage. This allowed Anthony to have more space for positioning lights and utilizing the entire width of the Chiffon Elegance Dark Charcoal backdrop.

THE LIGHTING SETUP

To set up the shoot, Anthony used a single flash directed into the corner of his garage, along with a v-flat and a 5-in-1 reflector. The flash bounced off the white walls, creating an even base layer of light throughout the space. Positioned to the right of the camera, it matched the lighter side of the backdrop. The v-flat was employed to prevent direct light from hitting the subject, allowing Anthony to control the lighting and introduce dimension with a second flash. Initially, he used the reflector to bounce light back onto the subject, but found the result too flat. So, he brought in a second strobe modified with a beauty dish, positioned to the left of the camera and feathered away from the subject. For the images where the model (Callaway Malone) was seated on the ground, Anthony moved the second flash to the right to align with the direction of light casting on the Chiffon Elegance Dark Charcoal backdrop, adding more direction from the upper right-hand corner of the frame.

The inspiration for this shoot stemmed from the backdrop itself. creating a romantic and classic ambiance, drawing inspiration from old sculptors and their subjects who posed to bring art to life.
